Religions originated in human efforts to understand processes which were not otherwise understood; and which often dealt with realms of transcendent: values, issues, ideals, principles, hopes, aspirations, fears, etc.

Religious people rarely focus their lives in the ways that are common among objective scientists. Religious people have often focused their lives in ways which have involved parables, mythologies, meditations, prayers, rituals, traditions, music, and considerations of spiritual realities --- often thought of as transcending the realm of objects; but able to affect humans in profound ways which are not well understood.

Traditional religious people rarely appeal to human experiences as having authoritative relevance. More often religious people appeal to ancient writings and traditions; and often they engage in contentious debates about the practical meaning of their conflicting authorities.
