A Brief Essay about ADDICTION
Anne Wilson Schaef has written that if you are tempted to be dishonest you are addicted; even if you have not "yielded" to the temptation to be dishonest. True lovers are not even tempted to be dishonest, because they know that being dishonest is a sure way to undermine most personal and communal integrities which give meaning and significance to living and loving.

Domineering people who feel that they must be in control to be secure, are often tempted to be dishonest. Many become addicted to collusive games of mutual self deception, while trying to use coercion and violence to achieve security through invulnerability. Such efforts are tragically futile and hopeless, but domineering people do not dare break their collusion's rules by dealing honestly with the futility of their efforts. They would be rejected by their friends if they broke collusion rules! They dare not! Trying to stand together, they fall together.
