Prayer is a spiritual exercise and virtue through which we may get in touch with reality, our opportunities, our challenges, our experiences, and the most transcendent realities that we can experience; including other people who merit reverence, honor and support because of how they demonstrate personal integries and facilitate communal integrities.

Prayer is misunderstood if it is regarded only as a process of asking someone FAR MORE powerful than we are --- to do for us what we CAN DO for ourselves or for each other. Prayer does involve recognizing and acknowledging our limits and limitations. It does not involve our asking others to carry burdens we should and need to carry ourselves.

If our prayer always occurs in isolation, it is immature. If we are always in charge in prayer, we are immature.
