Significant human relationships involve interactions
which depend upon various desires and perceptions of how
satisfied participant are with each other's desires and
the way in which participation satisfies those desires.
The motivation for human relationships is in desires,
anticipations, expectations, hopes, fears, and perceptions
which are directly ore indirectly self referential in a
personal way. Thus human relationships are not objective
in nature.
The interactions among human beings can not be
understood and/or controlled in accordance with the same
paradigm which can be use for the understanding,
manipulation and control of interactions among inanimate
objects. Not even the physicist with the greatest amount
of faith in natural law using the greatest computer
available to mortals will be able to compute in real time
the probable interactions and relationships among humans
and their sophisticated tools, including their most
sophisticated computers. No portion of a whole can
comprehend the whole in all its details.
Humans who are creatures of a social and
technological matrix can not reasonably hope as portions
of the whole to understand the whole within which they
came to be and act. A machine can not understand itself,
much less its creator. Most people can not understand
their own behavior. Much less can they fully understand
the social matrix which creates them, for that
understanding would change that which was understood. On
could, of course, seek an understanding which was of such
nature that attaining it would not change that which was
understood. One could, of course, seek an understanding
which was of such a nature that attaining it would not
change that which was understood. Are we to believe that
such is the nature of reality that no other coherent form
of understanding is possible or meaningful? Are other
choices certain to be futile and meaningless? How can we
know that in the beginning of the quest? Upon the basis
of what kind of understanding, upon what faith and how
chosen, upon what basis?
Human relationships depend upon preconceptions of
participants regarding the nature and possibilities of
human relationships. People dedicated to objective
relationships as the most important and significant ones
do not relate meaningfully.
