Each language facilitates certain types of communication, and fails to facilitate other types of communication. Each language may be characterized by the types of communication which it inhibits, as well as by the types of communication which it facilitates. When a culture adopts one language to the exclusion of other languages, members of the culture cut themselves off from complementary other cultures which perceive their realities through other languages. It becomes virtually impossible to perceive realities about which exclusive language does not facilitate communication. Thus whole domains of human experience literally become unreal; usually because of the adoption of an exclusively literal language which has been specialized to a high degree. In this way the technocratic society is dominated by technocratic languages. Members of a technocratic society who wish to become liberated from the domination of their technocratic languages must first become aware of their domination. They must become aware that other languages exist and pertain to meaningful realities. They must become curious about those languages and realities---rather than repressed and oppressive regarding them. This usually does not occur until there is an awareness of the incompleteness of the technocratic languages and perspectives. Such awareness if often prevented by the collusions of the technocratic society---for out of fear and emotional immaturity members help each other to avoid such awareness. The technocratic languages focus upon objects and causal relationships between objects---all within the matrix of measurable space and time. The technocratic languages have built into their vocabulary and syntax very fundamental presuppositions and attitudes towards reality. People who are limited to the use of a technocratic language are thus unable to cope with realities which are beyond the realm of the technocratic language. Non- technocrats and technocrats are thus unable to communicate with each other in meaningful ways---if they are exclusive in their orientations and languages. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
