%COLLUSION THREATENING BEHAVIOR 850629 Jack and Jill are participating in a collusion, a game of mutual self deception. One of the primary rules of the game is to always act as if the game of mutual self deception was not being played, otherwise the deception will not serve its purpose. Another rule is to always act in keeping with the deception, to have all behavior be consistent with the deception. Overt statements which affirm the falsehood are too obvious and might expose the deception. The game is to indirectly affirm the falsehood in ways which do not expose the deception. The game is to indirectly affirm the falsehood in ways which do not expose the lack of integrity in the game. The rules of the game can not be discussed because that would expose the lack of integrity in the game. The affirmations and negations of the game can not be discussed openly; the game must be played tacitly through behavior which does not call undue attention to the behavior. The deceptions of the game must be achieved without calling conscious attention to the moves of the players in the game. Not even the players in the game are to become aware of each other's moves, except for tacit recognitions and acknowledgements of those recognitions that slippages of maintaining the front are to be met with tacit threats of rejection of the slippages move farther towards dropping out of the game. Jack is nervous because Jill's behavior is not endorsing the "truths" of the collusion with sufficient enthusiasm. Also, she is careless in little acts which give her away as not being a convinced believer in the "truths" of the collusion. She is not living according to the full set of prescriptions and prohibitions of the collusive way of life. The slips are small, yet they come dangerously close to exposing the game to public view. It is Jack's duty to give Jill subtle signals that she is getting out of line, and that if she wants to be acceptable she had better watch her step more closely. She must behave properly to be successful. It is important to observe rules of etiquette, propriety, decency, morality, etc. One must not be rebellious or careless in such matters, else one will quite properly be rejected by people who can make or break you.
