The elementary parts are not changed by entering into such relationships. An electron after being part of an atom is no different than it was before being a part of an atom. Its potential relationships remain unchanged. Relationships exist among the ideals which people embody. Some of those relationships are in the nature of conflict, others in the nature of mutual support. Some ideals are mutually exclusive. Others are mutually interdependent and mutually inclusive. There are instrumental ideals which play an essential role in supporting ultimate ideals. There are ideals which facilitate the evaluation of other ideals. The relationships among people are related to the relationships among the ideals which the people embody. Such relationships among people participate in the nature of the relationships among the ideals which the people embody: conflict, mutual support, mutual exclusion, instrumental, facilitation of evaluation. This is true of other representations of ideals: literature, drama, ritual, dogma, institutions, cultures, nations, mentors, exemplars, teachers, etc. Unlike the elementary constituents of atoms and their inter-relationships the inter-relationships among ideals and their embodiments do not remain unchanged throughout the relationships and embodiments. The elementary constituents are changed through participation in the relationships; perhaps even created by them. The nature of the inter-relationships also change in the course of the dynamic process. To understand human conflict and behavior and reflection it may help to reflect upon the inter- relationships and processes of change in which humans and their ideals participate in mutually inter-creative ways. This will involve reflection upon the diverse ways in which such realities are embodied and otherwise represented in the process of creating and seeking to understand, predict and control them.
