The focus of scientists' concern is, in one way, outside of the scientists and of the relationships among scientists. The scientists believe that the realities which are the object of their discovery have to do with objects which are real apart from the objective discovery of them by objectively oriented scientists. Scientists object to people who believe that their realization of their goals does not correspond to pre- existing realities, but rather entails their making real of that which did not previously exist. Humanists value subjective discoveries and have as their goal the confirmation of their subjective discoveries by the meaningful acceptance of them by others who are near and dear to them. The focus of humanists' interest is in a meaningful way within the humanists and within the intimate personal relationships among them. The humanists know the realities which are the subject of their interest have to do with making real relationships---which are first known through visions and fantasies which conjure up desires of realization, and social confirmations through mutual acceptance and affirmation. Humanists find it difficult to experience as meaningful, relationships with objects which can not enter into meaningful personal relationships characterized by mutual interest and desire for reflexive communication. Scientists are blocked from entering into humanists' kinds of relationships because of their dedication to the objectification of reality. Scientists object to the kind of subjective relationships which are the primary interest of humanists---because such reflexive relationships entail emotions which are perceived to lead to biased judgment. Humanists are turned off by the objective bias of scientists who value the unanimous agreement of others regarding the reality of the impersonal realities--- which they realize in their fantastically sophisticated visions of complex mathematical relationships---among the undulating particles in their drama of curved space-time. In the absence of commonly agreed upon values---humanists and scientists find it difficult to be in dialogue characterized by mutual respect and education. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
