The nature of social and reflexive realities depend very heavily upon the desires, fears, choices, and decisions of those participating in such realities. The nature of objective realities depend upon the theories and expectations with which participants in those realities approach their participation in the subject- object relationships. The reality depends upon how strongly the observers believe in the theory which says that it is possible to totally separate subject from object of observation, while the subject is involved in an observing relationship with the object. The nature of objective realities thus depend upon the beliefs of the observers, as well as upon the nature of the objects which participate in the subject-object relationship with the observers. Social realities rather clearly depend upon the desires, fears, choices, and decisions of those participating in such realities. Few people overtly claim that such realities, are like objective realities are presumed to be. Yet, many people behave as if social realities are like objective realities are presumed to be. For example, moralists behave as if moral laws were objective realities. Some people behave as if the moment when a "person" comes into being were an objective fact subject to objective verification, and thus a question to be answered by competent scientists. They do not acknowledge that the answer to that question is as much a function of desires, fears, choices, and decisions; as of objective observations. Some people fear to acknowledge their role in creat- ing social realities; and even more fear reflexive realities which are even more the function of desires and choices, than are social realities. For this reason, out of fear they repress the possibilities of reflexive realities---which are realized primarily through human desires and choices, and are realized primarily within the consciousness of the person who is making the choices. To admit such as realities places more responsibility and freedom upon them than they are willing to accept. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
