The I-Thou context does not yield to analysis and objectification and is not changed by analysis or objectification. Words can barely point to the I-Thou context. Instruments can not quantify and thereby describe the I-Thou context. The I-Thou context is not understood by taking it apart while standing apart from it; i.e., by analysis which is objective. The meaning of the I-Thou context is known and understood mutually through participation which does not meet the requirements of objectivity while transcending them. The I-Thou context is not entered through objectivity and analysis. It is not achieved, it is received. We do not create the relationships as much as they create us. There are no meaningful I-Thou races, competitions, achievements, prizes, etc. Even the rewards of I-Thou relationships are of a different kind than those which characterize races, competitions, achievements, and prizes.
