Regarding behavior which is not essentially sinful, as if it were sinful, may occasion the behavior to become sinful. Whether or not behavior is, or is not sinful; is not an objective reality. The sinfulness of behavior is as much occasioned by those responding to the behavior, as by the motivation and character of the behavior. The ultimate sin is to behave in ways which transform other people's behavior into what may be objectively sh own to be sinful behavior. People who ultimately value legalism tend to commit the ultimate sin by respecting laws more than they respect the unique potentials for love within their neighbors/community. An ultimate respect for non-personal realities thus tends to occasion the ultimate sin. Ultimate respect/concern for non-personal realities tends to promote indifference/insensitivity to persons. Such indifference/insensitivity tends to occasion the creation/maintenance of inhibitions to emotional/ intellectual openness, honesty, and trust. The antidote is not intensified respect/concern for non-personal realities such as rules, regulations expectations, traditions, standards, morality, ethics, rituals, etc. The antidote is the promotion of personal concern and sensitivity through the facilitation of open and honest intimate communication.
