Such comparisons were essential to making wise decisions about fight and/or flight in occasions of possible conflicts and/or cooperations. Survival in each conflict depended upon prudent assessment of the strengths/weaknesses of others, in comparison to self and friends. Figuring out who was enemy and who was potential friend was essential to survival. The skills are a hereditary heritage in those who have survived. We still instinctively ask "friend" or "foe", "yes" or "no", "good" or "evil", "fight" or "flight", "cooperate" or "conflict". In tragic ways our dichotomous instincts now generate conflicts within large groups and organizations which should in principle be cooperative. Some members are still on the watch for "enemies" when they do not need to watch for and are good at identifying "enemies" where there is no occasion for finding "enemies"; Such members often create "enemies" where initially there were no "enemies". Groups and their members disintegrate because of such "successful" identifications of lurking "enemies" where there were none. This is not a simple technical problem which needs to be solved; it is a non-technical dilemma in inter-personal human relationships. There is a real need to recognize and deal with conflicting ideals, values and principles within each group and/or organization. There is no real need to identify some members of each group and/or organization as supporters of some "enemy" group.
