This is especially so when community members collect together into cohesive groups of like-minded individuals for mutual support and understanding. They may come together to believe that there have been no determinative assumptions, attitudes, beliefs or manners of approach --- which they have brought to their communal processes of perception and describing what they have seen, envisioned and/or dreamed. They are often vulnerable to the evolution of exceedingly dangerous collusive games of mutual self deception; dishonest games which hide themselves in the daily lives of those who are both the perpetuators of the games and the victims of their games. Our perceptions are the products of both what we bring to our perceptual processes, and of what we approach and/or avoid. What we avoid is just as important as what we approach, and how we approach whatever it is that we choose to approach. We do not perceive that which we choose to avoid. If we firmly believe that something which we do not want to perceive is not real --- we may not see it even if we approach it. What we see/perceive/understand depends upon what: 1. We choose to approach and what we avoid. 2. Assumptions we carry with us in approaches. 3. Fears we carry with us. 4. Lenses and filters we look through. 5. Microscopes and telescopes we often use. 6. Data gathering, storage, and processing we use. 7. Hypotheses and theories we develop and test. 8. Friends we choose to spend time with. 9. Spiritual experiences we permit each other. 10. Concepts with which we are familiar. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
