People who are preoccupied with issues of control,
absolute truth, right, wrong, good, and evil --- often
seek to be in charge of the great power of broad
generalizations; for such generalizations apply to an
impressively wide range of situations and to many people.
The wider the range of applications and relevance --- the
greater the power and the potential for augmented self
esteem. The level of self-righteousness which can be
achieved this way is impressive!
Controllers are often preoccupied with commandments,
moral codes, and ethical systems which appear to apply to
all people equally --- for there seems to be great
potentially power therein. Such people are rarely
inclined to be interested in the particular
details of individual people's: heredity, genetic
codes, family backgrounds, experiences; unique cultures,
languages, needs, desires, fears, hopes and
aspirations. For controllers such details are only
distractions and are not important. To them what is
important is the power of wide-ranging generalizations
and commandments which transcend such incidental details.
Thus they seek to wield controlling powers without
regard or respect for individual differences. In doing
so --- controllers engender tragically great amounts of
various kinds of alienation, estrangement, confusion,
prejudice, coercion, and violence. In self defense they
encourage each other to play collusive games of mutual
self deception --- through which they avoid recognizing
what it is that they are doing to themselves and other
people.
It is important to keep in mind that the many forms
of evil relationships, approaches, and actions --- are
rooted in alienation and bear the bitter fruits of
alienation. Attempts to be in control --- only augment
the alienation and make the fruits of alienation more
bitter.
