  %ARMY MACHINE MENTALITY ATTITUDE DECISIONS ACTION 890119

     An  army (or navy,  air force,  space warriors)  is a
human  machine created to fulfill the will of the  supreme
commander/nation-state.

     An  army is not created to be creative,  make policy,
question policy,  discuss values and ideals, make friends,
resolve conflicts, or make peace.

     These  facts  lead to the inevitable character of  an
army  and the mentality/attitudes which govern the life of
an army. Individuals trapped within an army can not change
the  facts of origination of the army.  They have  limited
power  to change the mentality/attitudes which govern  the
life  of  their  army.  They will be wise to be  open  and
honest  about what they can change,  and what they  cannot
change.

     The more citizens who have participated thoughtlessly
in  an army,  the more the nation is likely to be governed
by army mentality and attitudes, for service in an army is
a formative experience.

     An  army  is formed to act coherently as  one  agent.
Each member must be obedient to a supreme authority.  Each
member  must regard members of the opposing army as  enemy
first,   person secondarily.  Communication with the enemy
must be minimized to avoid the possibility of transfer  of
army  secrets which would threaten the violent purpose  of
the  army.   Army  mentality does  not  call  for  getting
acquainted  with members of the enemy army.  It  does  not
call  for conflict resolution,  it calls for "winning"  in
conflict  and  calls  for  repression  of  any  continuing
opposition.  The conflict remains after the army wins, for
