Jack's experiences are his own. Each can not know the detail of the other's experiences as experienced by the other without self revelation by the other. To watch another person have an experience does not tell one the same thing as to have the other person describe what the experience was to them. Each kind of knowledge is complementary to the other kind of knowledge. To strive for one kind of knowledge as of ultimate importance is to exclude the other kind of knowledge; sacrificing one kind of knowledge in favor of the other kind of knowledge. There is something like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle as regards knowledge of the two complementary kinds of information. Scientists tend towards regarding objective knowledge as of ultimate importance. In the extreme there is a tendency to invoke taboos against regarding self description as of any value or importance. People who stoop to self description are alienated as a means of avoiding having to deal with self descriptions which are embarrassing to specialists who have avoided learning how to integrate self descriptions into their lives. Thus ignorance compounds itself by being the basis for its own extension; those who are personally ignorant make a virtue of personal ignorance in order to feel good about themselves, but they can not share with each other how good they feel about themselves, but they can not share with each other how good they feel about themselves by virtue of their chosen ignorance, nor can they share with each other their awareness of what is happening---to do so would violate the taboos of their collusion. To share knowledge humans must in a sense share their experiences; they must describe what they have experienced; they must describe some aspect of themselves; they must self describe. Often self descriptions are limited to dealing with intellectualized self descriptions in formal patterns of expression which minimize unique personal aspects of the experiences. This minimizes embarrassment of people who are not personally mature enough to deal with such self-revelations. It also inhibits communication of knowledge, wisdom, and meaning. It tends to reduce motivating communications and so generates apathy because it is frustrating to have feelings and emotions which cannot legitimately be communicated in self descriptions.
