"This statement is false". There are statements which are absurd, because they are contradictory in a self-referential way. There is no need to go beyond the statement to seek evidence about its falsity. "This statement includes the word 'includes' as its third word". The last statement is self-referential in a true way. Statements may self-referential many ways. "God is a white male". This statement can not be proven true or false for lack of necessary evidence and/or due to assumptions made regarding God. Even so, belief that the statement is true or false leads to significantly different patterns of behavior. The import of a statement flows form our convictions, commitments, and public behavior related to the statement; regardless of whether the statement can be shown to be true, or false, or absurd, or whatever. "There is a finite amount of high quality energy available to civilization". A statement may be demonstrably true through intellectual analysis, yet we may not believe it. Our convictions, commitments and public behaviors related to the statement may correspond to the belief it is not true, even though we may assent intellectually to its truth. Or we may deny its intellectual truth, in spite of adequate intellectual confirmation of its truth. We may be participants in a collusion which is dedicated to evading the embarrassment of the truth. It may be taboo for us to admit the truth of a statement. The import of a statement may be that our collusions makes it taboo to admit its truth. In other instances our collusion may make it taboo to admit to the falsity of a statement which we believe to be true. "A statement is important to us if we believe it and through conviction, commitment and public behavior demonstrate our intellectual and emotional willingness to risk much on the basis of that belief". The last statement notes that the import of a statement to us depends upon how integrated we are with respect to the statement. Collusions, delusions, elusions, confusion, taboos, misinformation, faulty logic, fear, etc. may disintegrate us with regards to true statements which might make a great difference to us---were we free to believe, decide, and act in terms of the true statements.
