In an objective relationship between an object and an observer the object plays a passive role which is regarded as devoid of thought, feeling, and perception. The role of the object is to transmit information through the passage of wavicles from the object to the observer. The broadcasting of such wavicles is perceived as entailing no volition, will or decision. The role of the observer, on the other hand, is perceived by the observer to be an active role characterized by perception and thought, but not by feeling. Such feelings as do exist are to be ignored, repressed, masked, etc. Openness and honesty about the emotions of the observer are not part of the role of the observer in an objective relationship. Openness and honesty would reveal that the "objective observer" is not following the assigned script properly. It would be too painful to admit that the assigned script cannot be followed properly. The perceptions and thoughts of the observer are perceived by the observer as following logically from the interactions of the object with its objective environment---discounting the observer, who is somehow not perceived as an essential element of the environment. Through this device of thought, the full role of the observer's volition, will and decisions---is not perceived by the observer or other's who observe the observer. When the object of an objective relationship is a person cast in the role of object, things become even more complicated. It is then very difficult to continue to be objective about the process of participating in objective relationships. The objects often object to being treated with an objective bias, because they find themselves cast in roles in which they are regarded as devoid of thought, feeling, and perception; and incapable of volition, will and decision. If the essence of evil is the generation of alienation through the inhibition of mutuality and dialogue; then as regards relationships among people, it is evil to try to be unbiased by treating people objectively.
