The purpose of such learning is to score more points than other competitors, to leave them "in the dust". Relatively few can win in competitive education. Only a few rewards are available to be given to the winners in competitive education, and contestants work to be the ones to get the rewards. The contestants are not motivated to help each other learn. Do runners in a race stop and help each other? No, they race on and leave the slow ones behind. In competitive education the fastest learners race on and leave the slow learners behind---they must finish first to be respected and earn the prize and the praise. In competitive education courses must be finished on time. To grant students time to finish at their own pace would be to undermine the concept of competition. If there is no competition, there will be no motivation to get ahead, to learn. The teachers and administrators much set the stage for competition to motivate the students who would not be motivated to learn otherwise. Some students must fail and others must win in competition. It can not be significant competition if there are no failures. There must be failures. The sight of the failures helps provide motivation for the winners and helps confirm the teachers' memories of how successful they were as competitors---that they were among the best. What kind of race would it be if there were no losers, no racers coming in last? How would the winners feel if they were not better than anybody. Comparisons must be made to generate motivation to excel. There is no other reason to learn. Competitive learning promotes vigorous competitive personal development and relationships. It generates vitality and promotes the development of leaders who strive to get ahead. They become national leaders who will lead our nation to be the best nation in the world in measurable behavior---such as in making preparations for military competition. They will also be judged "better lovers" in competitive intimacy. Elite leaders from competitive elite schools make great national leaders. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
