To release repressions one must work to relax the logic and motivation for the repression. The agents of repression work to achieve certain ends, perhaps to repress certain emotions. The logic and motivation of the repression must be responded to in order to release the repressed. The logic of repression tends to be flawed. The program of repression does not accomplish its ostensible goals in any profound way. The superficiality of the accomplishments of the repression may be revealed and the logic deprived of much of its power. The repressors through collusion may resist perception of the inadequacy of the logic. Logical dialogue is not likely to break through the protective shells thrown up out of fear. The fear of the repressors must be dealt with in order to release that which has been repressed. The motivation for repression is usually fear. The repressors fear the repressed and/or what which the repressed represents. So long as the fear continues, the motivation for repression continues. Thus, steps need to be taken to reduce the fear. This is not likely to be the case for humane role models who live in affectionate ways which create fail-safe emotional contexts that transcend the dichotomies of culture and language. Such people live in ways which put people at ease, promoting increasing trust in risky situations. By being inclusive they reduce the fears which occasion the exclusive acts of repression. People not only repress each other; they repress essential aspects of themselves along the lines indicated above. Such repression violates their integrity and makes them unpredictable as to behavior---lacking integrity. In such people the conflict is internal, between dichotomous aspects of the fragmented self.
