Having agreed to understand ourselves in terms of a dichotomy between us as separated knowers, and the universe of inter-related objects---we repress our knowledge of our bodies and their inter-relationships. We can not (bring ourselves to) personally understand our selves in terms of our formula for understanding everything else. This leaves us aliens from our objective environment and from our subjective selves. We do not admit to the uncertainty principle regarding subjective/objective knowledge---the deeper and more profound our objective knowledge is in a given context, the more shallow and superficial is our subjective and personal meaning in that context; and vice versa. By the nature of reality we can not be exclusively excellent in either way, without paying a high price in the other way--- but our collusion refuses to admit our frustrations as the origins of the violence which they occasion. We cannot enjoy integrity and peace until we give up our exclusive pretensions regarding objectivity. They undermine the possibility of science meaningfully promoting our personal and social well-being. We need to articulate the presuppositional foundations of a new science---which will be sympathetic to meaningful personal relationships, and humane knowledge of them. Such a science must help us understand and participate in intimate personal relationships, including sexual relationships, in which we cannot be meaningfully objective about our selves, bodies, desires, hopes, fears, regrets, etc. A humane science must have integrated into its body all kinds of knowledge, not just objective/analytic knowledge. Thus humane scientists must be incarnations of all kinds of knowledge who wisely put it to use to promote our personal and social well-being. Humane scientists would not be polarized into pure vs. applied, theoretical vs experimental; or alienated from personally oriented individuals. They would not have the problems in science education which characterize our modern technocratic society with its citizens' aversions to the sciences whose fruits they have become addicted to.
