Such desires are powerful. They are destructively blocked/repressed by agents who do not understand the languages of instincts. Blockages are occasioned by attempts to classify instincts into good and evil classifications. Problems do not arise so much from inappropriate classifications, as from presuming that making classifications in helpful. Those who through arrogance are so presumptuous as to pass judgment upon God-given instincts, thereby occasion their own and others' expulsion from the Garden of Eden of loving relationships. Such arrogance is usually characteristic of those who presume to approach existential situations with full objectivity---not recognizing the essential ways in which their presuppositions and judgments occasion the behavior which they condemn. They do not have the objectivity to perceive that they are not being objective about themselves---nor do they have the humility to perceive the futility of their presumptuous venture. Loving people seek to facilitate the expression of powerful instincts; by providing role models of how to give instincts helpful expression: by providing fail-safe contexts in which to experiment and learn, by articulating insights gained in confessions of their fulfillments/frustrations, by generating theoretical structures which reveal the nature of humane relationships, by loving those who suffer because of misguided instincts, by giving meaning to failures, etc. Facilitation of expression is far more helpful than occasioning repression of diversion. Blocked instincts occasion conflict within, between, and among people. The blockages are usually motivated by fear which may be cast out by love, but which may also inhibit the growth of love. Blockages inhibit communication. Love facilitates communication. Love casts out fear. Fear may inhibit love. Instincts bring people together, as does love. Fear of the vulnerability of closeness keeps people apart. Love prompts people to take the risks involved in trust. Fear prompts people to take the risks involved in invulnerability, manipulative security, and alienation. Fear occasions existential meaninglessness and death. Love occasions existential fulfillment and life---which builds upon the firm foundations of those who suffer because they love so much as to risk an ultimate dedication to openness and servant- hood.
