If the judgement involves a rejection of essential aspects of self, acceptance of it involves the fragmentation of self. The judges are likely to point to the resulting breakdown of personal integrity as confirming their judgement---that the condemned act, thought, or feeling merited punishment by God through the operation of divine moral law. Yet sin is occasioned more by judgement --- than by actions judged worthy of excommunication. Those who self-righteously work to prevent sinful acts (Sin is alienation) through righteous judgements, thereby promote the sin (alienation) which occasions the acts which they condemn. Those who personally accept imposed guilt and own it, thereby so violate their own integrity --- as to bring to pass the punishment predicted by their judges. Thus the judgement operates as a self-fulfilling prophecy; fulfilling the judgement, but not the selves. The selves become the slaves of the judgements. Together the judges and their accused work to realize their common vision of the consequences of their respective actions. They choose to fulfill their chosen vision---often because they fear to realize their power to choose and to make-real integrative alternative visions. They decide to live in an objective reality over which they feel they have no radical power---living as victims, rather than as creators. To accept the power to change the nature of reality is too frightening---and punishment for accepting guilt is preferred. The security of punishment within a known reality for which one is not responsible --- is less frightening than the risk of freedom in a reality for which one is responsible; but is seen only dimly, as face to face in a dark mirror. To presume to have the power to choose to be free to realize alternative integrative realities---that makes self vulnerable to the risks of pride and arrogance. As a result, self may---out of fear - -- choose the security of false humility, and self-imposed impotence. Accepting the judgement of others is promoted by the adoption of an objective view of reality --- in keeping with scientism's faith. Thus a blind faith in the power of science to solve human problems --- tends to promote the acceptance of the judgment of others. Science does not value unique insights and experiences in the reflexive realms of personal relationships. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
