It is a meeting, sharing, giving, and accepting of and with another. It is a total surrender of the ego to the other. Personal meeting is communication; baring the soul and inviting another to learn what can be learned, give what can be given, and share all that can be mutually understood. In a true personal meeting, it is not personal meeting, or facet of the self. If anything is hidden, it is not personal meeting, but a superficial attempt which can do nothing but fail. There is no decision as to whom the self will be revealed. If one is honest and accepting, the self will constantly strive to meet at this level with any and every one. However, most people in a technocratic society are superficial in their relationships, and cannot go below their surface selves with themselves, much less with others. If and when approached by a person desiring to be open, they will often hide behind a wall of defensiveness. To, there is the possibility of harm, physical or emotional, to the one reaching out. When something/one is not understood by the technocrat, the technocrat tends to fear; the known is much "safer" than the unknown. It is through this fear that anger sets in. This anger at reaching out is possibly also caused by envy, jealousy, and pressures by said technocratic society to continue the superficiality. The problem(dilemma?) is that the one who desires personal meetings with others does not know of envy. Nor does that self know of pressures from the outside. Coercion means to convince a person to do something against that self's will and/or desire. The real person who would share with another cannot conceive of the concept of coercion; it is a form of asserting the ego upon another, for whatever selfish reason. And social pressures are a form of coercion. Personal meeting with others does not mean losing or destroying the self, but rather allows the self to grow stronger. The ego will grow, which means that each encounter is greater in scope than the last, that there is more to give to another. (Written by a new friend) (c) 2003 by Paul A.
