NON-SCRIPTURAL PRETENTIOUS ARROGANT
Some readers who are focused very intently upon scriptures as their only guides may be offended by the essays because the essays lack any obvious grounding in the scriptures which the readers regard as both necessary and sufficient for the leading of their lives.
Such readers may need to consider the fact that the grandfather, father, and father in-law of the writer of the essays were Presbyterian ministers and missionaries; and that the writer of the essays has held many high offices in the Presbyterian Church USA during 1988 through 2002; and was previously significantly involved in Methodist and Congregational churches --- but to a much lesser degree.
Many of the essays deal with spiritual and religious issues --- but not in ways which are limited to the traditional language of many religious leaders. An effort has been made to deal with key issues without being trapped in a traditional language which does not speak to the full spectrum of probable readers, and/or may be offensive to many people. An effort has been made to frame new questions which stand apart from many of the traditionally contentious questions.
