People who spend a great deal of time focusing upon
salvation, how to enjoy salvation, how to achieve
salvation and/or who is saved --- are often misled by
their attitudes, assumptions and ways of approaching
situations and human relationships. They start their
faith journeys in ways which makes it all but impossible
for them to relate to people who have started their
different journeys in different places, times, and/or
circumstances. They often show little interest in
understanding how, where and under what circumstances
other people have started their diverse faith journeys.
People who seek to promote conformity in faith
journeys find it difficult to deal with the diversity
found in real people's faith journeys. They want to
eliminate diversity, rather than to find ways to integrate
diverse people into cooperative/creative efforts. The
fruits of conformists' efforts are rarely cooperation,
creativity or integrity. They often sow disintegration,
misunderstanding, confusion, ignorance and prejudice ---
because dishonest efforts to control what cannot be
controlled often engender suspicion, dis-respect,
resentment and anger. The people who are trying to
control what they cannot control are not worthy of
respect, honor, trust, or support --- yet often they do
not understand why they are regarded with apprehension as
they are regarded.
