Memories of personal/group experiences by self, other individuals; self's group, or other groups --- and known directly or through: conversations, stories, oral traditions, written traditions, dramas, novels, movies, news-reports, laws, commandments, instructions, education, training, threats, punishments, etc. 2. Images of memorable integrative and/or disintegrative: persons, parents, family members, teachers, friends, lovers, teachers, professors, employers, entertainers, news-commentators, reporters, religious leaders, etc. 3. Abstract presentations of ideals, values, principles, morality, ethics, professional values, etc. Conflicts are rooted in occasions of incoherence among the above in all their various forms and embodiments. Peace-making must be rooted in the peaceful resolution of conflicts which are rooted in incoherence among the above in all their various forms and embodiments. Some conflicts are no doubt rooted in conflicts among people as to who, how, when, where and by what process --- conflict resolution is to be accomplished, by: 1. The most coercive, violent, wealthy, and/or powerful --- by force of superiority/dominance? 2. The most competent person(s) in informal facilitation of healthy personal inter-relationships? 3. Informal conflict-resolution involving interested bystanders who have been trained in conflict-resolution skills. 4. Formal mediation, arbitration and/or other form of conflict-resolution led by competent persons who are agreeable to those involved in the conflicts. 5. Formal judicial procedures before judges and/or juries --- led by well paid lawyers who are defending the contentions of the people who have hired them to do so. 6. Arbitrary settlements by community leaders, strong-men, or dictators. 7. Protracted conflicts and wars of attrition and genocide. The personal and communal integrities of individuals and communities depend upon which procedures predominate in conflict resolution within them. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
