Technocrats are preoccupied with the use of manipulative techniques --- in the defense and alienative service of ideals, values and goals. The ideals, values and goals of technocrats are of diverse kinds: ENGINEERING SCIENTIFIC RELIGIOUS SEXUAL SCHOLARLY POLITICAL BUSINESS CULTURAL THEOLOGICAL PROFESSIONAL SPIRITUAL ECONOMIC NATIONAL TRIBAL TERRITORIAL SELFISH Idealists often play collusive games of mutual self- deception; games which systematically ignore the costs of the alienation, estrangement, excommunications, banishments, and isolation which they engender. They pretend that some ideals, values and goals are worthy of unlimited respect, support and worship --- regardless of the costs in alienation, estrangement, excommunications, banishments and isolation which are engendered through the idolatrous worship of them. Descriptions of such costs are taboo and/or are ignored. The people who honestly offer descriptions of the human costs which they perceive--- are prophets of integrity, but such honest prophets are often crucified by technocratic idealists who are playing addictive/collusive games of mutual self- deception.
