The participations in the network. 2. The ways in which information flows. 3. The facilitations of information flow. 4. The inhibitions of information flow. 5. The reflections upon information flow. 6. The ways in which information is stored. 7. The ways in which information is processed. 8. The ways in which information is released. 9. The ways in which information is interpreted. 10. The ways in which information is confused. 11. The relative importances of each of these. 12. The ways in which each of these change in time. 13. The differences in each of these over space. 14. The combinations of these over space/time. 15. The games people play with these in space/time. The qualities of our lives, communities and experiences --- depend upon all of the above and upon ways in which they interact with each other over space/time. All human experiences/communities are continuous experimental procedures which entail information flow/blockages from the past to the present and future and from/towards various nodes in the network. Various nodes in the network seek to gather, store, modify, interpret, control, eliminate, confuse and in other ways affect the flow of information among the nodes over time/space. Much depends upon the extent and manner in which information flow is: required/forbidden/permitted. Much depends upon which participants within the information flow processes are central, included, marginalized, and/or excluded from the pattern of feed- back loops and control over them which function within the whole network. Some participants seek to MAXIMIZE information flow. Some participants seek to MINIMIZE information flow. Some seek to CONTROL THE FLOW of information as regards: sources, content, channels, storage, interpretations, perversions, confusions, and recipients. Some seek to transcend the impositions of controls. Some seek to CONTROL THE PARTICIPATION of other members of the community in regards to their involvement in the various aspects pointed to above. Some seek to play dominant roles. Others seek to transcend dominance in roles played. Some play collusive games of mutual self deception within the context of all of the above. Others seek to transcend collusive games of mutual self deception --- even though they are embedded within all of the above. The quality of personal and communal lives depends upon how all of the above interactions and relationships evolve over time and space. Communities in which information flow is regularly inhibited, controlled, perverted and/or confused --- lack integrity, coherence and skills needed to respond wisely to environmental changes, challenges and opportunities. They become sick and disintegrate. Communities in which information flow is regularly facilitated, liberated and clarified --- develop integrity, coherence and skills needed to respond wisely to environmental changes, challenges and opportunities. They grow in healthy ways. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
