The cyclic processes have to do with invitations and the acceptances of invitations to move one way or another way --- between relationships of enmity and/or friendly intimacy. The cyclic processes have similar aspects within various domains of relationships: friendships, religion, scholarship, politics, science, sports, business, work, sexuality, international affairs, etc. Invitations are offered, accepted, ignored or rejected. Sometimes invitations to engage in coercive and/or violent activities are offered in ways which make it difficult to turn down the invitations. Sometimes contexts make it difficult to accept invitations to move away from coercion and violence --- and towards friendship and intimacy. In such contexts even efforts to move away from coercion and/or violence may engender counter-moves on the part of emotionally immature people --- who fear the risks of intimacy and vulnerability. Some such people are preoccupied with issues of control. They fear the loss of control --- which is associated with authentic- intimacy with true-security which is enjoyed as the freedom to be safely vulnerable. They seek to make such loss of control illegal; especially in sexual relationships which have not been approved in any formal way. Some people feel insecure if any human relationships are spontaneous, informal, creative and/or motivated by considerations which are not under the control of some systematic procedure. Such people often share preoccupations which lead people through cyclic processes which lead them (and those people who fall under their influence) towards misunderstandings, coercion, violence and the disintegration of healthy human relationships and communities.
