     It  is  important for us to recognize and  deal  with
disintegrative feed-back loops and double binds which  are
generated when respect and support are focused upon people
who  are  participants in collusive games of  mutual  self
deception as addictive people or codependent supporters of
addictive people.  Not all addictive people are recognized
as addicts,  nor are they all actively involved in the use
of alcohol or drugs.

     The  essence  of  addiction cannot be  recognized  in
terms of any one or more particular foci  of  addiction---
regarded perhaps as the "cause" of addiction.  The essence
of addiction may be recognized in patterns  of  attitudes,
assumptions,  beliefs, convictions and manipulations which
entail dishonesty, secrecy, deception, misleading behavior
and communications, and preoccupations with control.

     Collusive  addicts  and their codependent  supporters
are   not  honestly  perceptive  people.    They  do   not
recognize,   articulate or talk openly and honestly  about
what their attitudes,  assumptions,  beliefs,  convictions
and  manipulative  tricks  are.   They do  not  recognize,
articulate or talk openly and honestly about their  ideals
and   values   which   lead   them   into   disintegrative
relationships,  thought patterns,  decisions and  behavior
patterns.

     When   collusive   addicts  and   their   codependent
supporters  are  respected  and  supported---they engender
disintegrative feed-back loops by which their patterns  of
disintegrative  behavior grow geometrically/exponentially.
They  confuse  issues,   consequences,   ideals,   values,
beliefs, attitudes,  assumptions and convictions---so that
people are  unable to engage in clear  thinking,  learning
from mistakes or wise decision making.   They repress open
and honest dialogue in order to prevent the revelation  of
the disintegrative consequences of the support and respect
which they have received.

     It  is  important for us to recognize and  deal  with
disintegrative feed-back loops and double binds which  are
