     We  can find it revealing to consider carefully under
what  circumstances  lies,  dishonesty,   deception,   and
misleading   behavior  can  reasonably  be   defended   as
promoting both personal and communal integrity.

     We  will  do  well  to  exclude  from   consideration
circumstances  where  lies,  dishonesty,  deception,   and
misleading  behavior are used in the service of  dishonest
and/or  powerful  people---to the  disadvantage  of honest
and/or weak people.

     We   will  do  well  to  exclude  from  consideration
circumstances  where  lies,   dishonesty,   deception  and
misleading behavior  are used by powerful people---to take
advantage of vulnerable people.

     We  will  do  well  to  exclude  from   consideration
circumstances  where  lies,   dishonesty,   deception  and
misleading   behavior---lead  to  alienation,    distrust,
resentment  and  anger in  ways  which  can  readily  be
expected.

     What circumstances have not been excluded?  Given the
exclusions:  Under what  circumstances  lies,  dishonesty,
deception,   and  misleading  behavior  can reasonably  be
defended   as   promoting  both  personal   and   communal
