     There  are  many ways in which people have  tried  to
articulate   the  prerequisites  to  integrative  intimate
relationships  which involve sexual responses.   Often the
articulations   have   taken  the  form   of   ineffective
injunctions which have lead to disintegrative personal and
communal  relationships.    The abundant examples  of  how
ineffective  such  injunctions are, seem not to  have much
effect  upon  the  people  who are  grimly  determined  to
continue  their  efforts  to control sexual  relationships
through such injunctions.   It would appear that different
kinds of articulations would be worth trying.

     It  might help for people who have experimented  with
various  ways to become involved in intimate relationships
which involve  sexual responses---to  describe  what their
experiences  have  been:    under  what  conditions   they
experienced the  wide variety of sexual  experiences,  and
what they regarded as the determinative factors in leading
them  to have their experiences.   Such descriptions will,
of  course,   be  reflexive  descriptions---not  objective
descriptions.     They cannot be scientific in the  narrow
sense.   They can be open and honest,  if the prerequisite
of  true  security  is met in the sense that  the  context
offers  the  freedom  to be safely vulnerable  in  healthy
