Perfection is not the essence of being holy, for perfection is static, not in process---unless you are thinking of a perfect process of growth and change. The Holy Spirit works to renew, change, redeem; not to prevent change in that which is perfect. That which is un-holy is not worthy of rejection just because it is un-holy. That which is un-holy is not thereby to be regarded as evil, and as an adversary. That which is un-holy is just not respectfully present in the presence of the Holy Spirit doing the work of the Holy Spirit. That which is un-holy may become holy by returning to the presence of the Holy Sprite and becoming renewed, changed, redeemed---by becoming involved in the work of the Holy Spirit. That which is holy may become un-holy by moving out of the presence of the Holy Spirit and leaving the work of the Holy Spirit. Holiness is not a status which is achieved, earned, or bought---to last forever. Holiness is a state of being, a way of being; being present to each other in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Holy moments are eternally sacred---not in extended time; but rater in the eternal now of each moment of I- Thou relationships which are free of fears, anxieties, threats, and expectations of rejection and excommunication. We do not achieve the status of being holy or sacred. We may accept the presence of the Holy Spirit---and in its presence be present to each other in ways which involve us in the work of love in the presence of the Holy Spirit: growth, renewal, redemption, reconciliation, conflict resolution, forgiveness, and intimate relationships within truly secure contexts---because gifts of true security are freely offered and accepted. ==========================================================
