Opponents in conflicts take up their battle stations at various narrowly defined point along the dichotomous lines. Human virtues are often measured by how far combatants are from what they perceive to be the unambiguous boundary between good and evil. People who have eaten much of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil---often proclaim with fanatical conviction exactly where in their clearly defined linear space is the exact boundary between being an acceptable person and being a properly rejected person. They object strenuously to other people who give careful and extended consideration to the structure of complex human relationships which promote personal and communal integrity. They treat good/evil as objective realities which can be known with certainty as classical scientists described without Heisenberg's uncertainty---the inevitable consequences of particular decisions and actions. They work hard to banish doubt, ambiguity, uncertainty and chaos to the realms of hell---and through their efforts generate much alienation, misunderstanding and ignorance which feed evil human relationships. They seek to prevent creative people from approaching any of the boundaries between being an acceptable person and being a properly rejected person who is excluded from open and honest dialogue. To the extent that dichotomous people dominate our assumptions, experiences, perceptions, attitudes, beliefs and communications---to that extent the creative people among us will find it exceedingly difficult to shed any clear light upon our dilemmas and technical problems --- to reveal to us how we may avoid repeating many of the tragic mistakes which have already been made many times over, with disintegrative consequences to us and our communities.
