     Often   we   behave  as  if   our   fulfillment   and
satisfaction depend   primarily upon how well  we  fulfill
our  goals,   achieve our  purposes,   and/or  conform  to
expectations.     When we are in such  a  frame of mind we
try   to   be   in  control   of:     goal    fulfillment,
achievement of purposes and the  impressions which we make
upon others. We deny that our fulfillment and satisfaction
depend upon how well embedded   we   are   with   personal
integrity  in  an integrative community.   Individualistic
fulfillment  of  goals,   achievement  of  purposes,   and
fulfilling the expectations of others play important roles
in the lives of  persons and communities;  but they do not
determine personal fulfillment and satisfaction in a cause
and effect manner.

     Personal   fulfillment   and   satisfaction    depend
critically   upon   how  open  and  honest  our   personal
relationships are,   upon our levels of mutual respect and
cooperation,     and upon  the  importance we  place  upon
personal and  communal integrity.    No systematic program
of management and control     can   guarantee our personal
fulfillment     and satisfaction.     Objective goals  may
be   achieved   by sacrificing honesty,  trust,   personal
integrity  and  communal  integrity---but objective  goals
are not  the  means   to the  achievement of the reflexive
goals of true  personal fulfillment and satisfaction.   We
cannot be in control in the  reflexive realm  of  personal
fulfillment  and  satisfaction---for we lose  what  little
influence we  may have achieved  in the objective realm---
when we  pretend  that we can  be   in control  within the
reflexive    realm    of    personal    fulfillment    and
