This is impossible if we are compulsively objective. To have clear ideals, values and goals we must think carefully about ourselves and be clear about how we feel about our various possible ideals, values and goals. This is impossible if we are compulsively trying to be objective all the time. To be successful in fulfilling our ideals, values and goals we must monitor our behavior, watch our progress and change ourselves through reflection upon our actual situation and being, in comparison to our intended situation and being. This is impossible if we are compulsively trying to be objective all the time. To function as coherent whole beings we must regard ourselves as coherent whole beings, and accept ourselves and each other into personal relationships which are coherent, cooperative, reflexive and integrative. This is impossible if we are compulsively trying to be objective and are fragmentively analytic. To be persons of integrity we must reflexively work to maintain balance which is inclusive of all essential aspects of healthy living. This is impossible if we are fanatics dedicated to mutually exclusive and conflicting dichotomous demands, goals, ideals and values. To be whole and healthy people we must maintain a balanced and healthy diet of food, exercise, activities, ideals, values, goals and interactions with other people and objects---and reflect there-upon. This is impossible if we are compulsively fixated upon identifying and excelling in one highly specialized way of living as the exclusive key to salvation. To engage in healthy inter-personal relationships we must openly and honestly deal with the nature of our inter-personal relationships which are essentially reflexive in character. This is impossible if we are compulsively trying to avoid reflexive relationships in order to be perfectly objective at all times. If those people nearest and dearest to us are always trying to be perfect and cannot deal openly and honestly with their own and other people's emotions in the face of imperfections---then we are likely to be like them; and be unable to engage in healthy inter-personal relationships which are fulfilling and meaningful. These reflections need to be kept in mind as we seek the way to fulfilling and meaningful lives in our reflexive personal relationships with each other as whole persons of integrity within communities of integrity. These reflexive considerations are especially important to young people thinking of entering the scientific professions which are dominated by people who are compulsively interested in being objective, analytic, quantitative, computational, and perfectly non-reflexive.
