Members who do not conform are looked upon with less favor than are those who do conform to the dominant paradigm. Each paradigm tends to dominate the creative behaviors of each subculture. Creativity is molded by the dominant paradigm. Creativity which transcends the paradigm is not likely to be recognized as creativity; and may be regarded as deviant behavior which should be overtly punished, or discouraged covertly. Addicts and codependents within each subculture are prone to engage in manipulative behaviors which seek to promote the kinds of conformity which conform to their own perceptions of the dominant paradigm and how the paradigm is most likely to help them to meet their own perceived needs. The paradigm guides addictive and codependent behaviors within each subculture in ways which are characteristic to the dominant paradigm which defines the subculture. Any effort to promote both personal and communal integrity will need to take into consideration the dominant paradigm(s) which are operative within the total community which is in question. The participants in the collusive games of mutual self deception are guided by their own dominant paradigm(s) and make sense of their own dishonest behavior in terms of those paradigm(s). When a paradigm promotes behaviors which involve active and passive abuse of the children and youth of a community, the community tends towards disintegration. When a paradigm promotes behaviors which encourage open and honest expressions of authentic love with appropriate affection---the community enjoys both personal and communal integrity. The way a paradigm leads members of a community to spend their limited time and other scarce resources thereby leads the community towards disintegration or integration. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
