If being lacks integrity we can not be ourselves with integrity. If we assume that the essence of being is to be in conflict, we are bound then to be in conflict with ourselves and with each other whom we find willing to play our game of mutual self deception. It is then our duty to be in conflict, and it is treason to seek conflict resolution with our enemy. If the essence of being is to be in conflict, then it is essential that every part of being be in conflict with every other separated part of being. It follows therefore, that members of a conflicting society must not trust each other. They must use a secret police to spy upon each other of their essentially conflicting society. In such a society there can be no ground for both personal and communal integrity. Everyone must be suspicious. If the ground of being lacks integrity no being can have integrity. There is an alternative. If the ground of being is personal with personal and communal integrity, then it is possible for all beings to participate in being with both personal and communal integrity. The difference between the two conceptions of being makes all the difference. Being in one way leads to disintegration. Being in the other way leads to integrity. In one way of being, integrity can not be achieved. In the other way of being, integrity is not achieved; it is accepted as the ground of being with integrity. Being with integrity comes naturally if it is accepted as the ground of being. Being with integrity is resisted as a threat to achieving integrity, if integrity is not accepted as the ground of being. People who believe in the importance of being in control can not be with integrity, because being in control undermines personal and communal integrity. Integrity can not be controlled. People with integrity can not be controlled. Communities with integrity do not respect people who seek to be in control. Being with personal and communal integrity is the essence of peace and security. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
