Ideals, values, moral codes, etc. tend to become technocratic and need to be balanced off by role models who both embody and transcend them. The teaching of the ideals, values, moral codes, etc. in the absence of attractive people who embody them with integrity leads to the disintegration of the community that attempts that way to salvation. Following a personal leader's role model is much easier than seeking to creatively embody ideals which run counter to the behavioral patterns of people nearest and dearest to you. The more the personal leader embodies ideals with personal and communal integrity the more easily it is to copy the creative behavior pattern. Technocrats who embody the scientists ideals of objectivity tend to try to dispense with the more personal aspects of behavior, playing down the importance of incarnation. They focus attention upon abstractions, generalizations, laws, quantifications, etc. which are distinctively not personal in nature. Impersonal realities are regarded as ultimate realities and so incarnations are regarded as of minor importance. They have a logical problem in making their ideals attractive to personable individuals. They focus upon formal procedures of verbalization and quantification, pretending to transcend self-referential behavior as they affirm the importance of their own behavior. They seek to transcend bias of subjective perceptions by adopting the bias of exclusively objective perceptions, and by pretending that their own personal perceptions which are guided by that bias are free of bias. They believe that abstractions, generalizations, laws, quantifications, etc. transcend the biases of particular personal observations upon which they are based. Ideal role models do not fall into the trap of exclusive affirmations of unbalanced ideals. Ideal role models are essentially integrative in nature and seek coherent balance among ideals. They seek creative resolutions of conflicts among ideals rather than the victory of one ideal over other ideal at the expense of the affirmation of the loser. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
