Transaction between people involve: offers, sharing,
giving, accepting, receiving, returning, refusing,
trading, etc. Regarding such transactions there are:
freedoms, inhibitions, needs, abilities, teaching, role
modeling, desires, learning, expectations, fears, etc.
The content of healthy human transactions involves:
respect, praise, honor, affirmations, encouragement,
support, attention, affection, emotions, information,
opinions, etc. Consideration of various combinations from
these three lists will lead to insights into human
transactions.
Often people are not free to give respect and praise.
There may not be freedom to receive and accept respect and
praise. In spite of their needs for respect and praise,
people may not have learned to give, receive, or accept
respect and praise. If such is the case, then human
transactions are not likely to involve many offers or much
trade in respect and praise. People who are trapped in
such a subculture are likely to live in depression with
little vitality.
To learn to trade honor, affirmation, and
encouragement in human transactions---people need to learn
to want to learn. Such learning usually comes from
watching other people who have the abilities which are to
be desired. Such learning comes through the support,
attention, and affection of those who have the abilities.
If they are free and able to teach by their examples---
then others can learn and come to expect to give, receive,
and accept much in human transactions.
Human transactions which involve no affection and
personal honesty---are likely to be depressed
transactions. People need to share their emotions in
order to have balance in their lives. They must be free
to trade openly in hope, joy, cheer, and happiness. Any
considerations which restrain such trade is likely to lead
to depression---including economic depression.
As we come to understand what is normal and what is
abnormal in human dynamics---we may be able to help
promote more vital human relationships.
