Fear and timidity dominate students who have no safe place. They will not take initiatives, seek to satisfy curiosity, try out new ideas, challenge collusions or taboos, take their desires seriously, or in any other way become liberally educated. They will conform. They will be manipulated by dominant people, traditions, taboos, collusions, businessmen, educators, politicians, religious leaders, policemen, and dictators. All people are vulnerable to such manipulation when they have no sanctuary in which Love provides a fail-safe place. Mothers provide the first fail-safe place in the womb---provided they are themselves in a fail-safe context free of drug abuse, anxiety, and violence which can intrude into the sanctuary of the womb. At birth mothers provide the second fail-safe place at their breasts--- provided they are not drugged by insecure and anxious physicians intent upon dominating the birth process and seeing to it that the baby is bonded to inanimate objects rather than to the female mother. During infancy mothers provide safe places for the young in intimate contact with their loving body---provided insecure others have not intruded with technocratic and legalistic systems of insuring that inanimate objects, routines, procedures, laws, taboos, policies and other non-feminine and non- personal realities are bonded to the infant rather, than to the uncontrollable female mother. Such non-personal and non-feminine bonding makes the subsequent child a better conformist, more manageable citizen, greater consumer, more analytic and objective scientist, and less likely to take initiatives and ask questions which are likely to undermine respected collusions. In childhood parents and schools provide fail safe sanctuaries in which children can grow into creative and mature adults---unless they have become the agents of non- personal traditions, collusions, taboos, legalistic systems, and exclusive perspectives for analysis.
