We take a stance of emotional detachment from the object in question. We do not personally identify with it. To be objective---logical considerations must be of greater importance to us than personal sensitivity towards the object of our consideration. It is impossible to be fully objective about ourselves. We cannot fully separate ourselves from ourselves and look upon ourselves as an object---without destroying our self and reducing our self to an object. To be fully objective we must cease to transcend objects and become an object which is incapable of objectivity---else we will not be the object of our objectivity. We may seek to avoid the absurdity of such an effort and instead try to maintain our selfhood---and have no self-object which is separate from us and available for objective consideration. In the latter case we fail to be objective---for lack of an object to consider. We cannot maintain our integrity while taking a stance of emotional detachment from our self. We cannot truly be our self without emotionally caring about our self. We cannot be our transcendent self without personally identifying with our self. Our self-respect depends upon our self-regard, how we regard our selves. If we value objectivity more than personhood---we are likely to lose our self in an effort which will objectify our selves into objects for scientific analysis. Reflexive objectivity lays the foundations for scientific analysis of people as objects. Objects submit to objective examination and analysis. Through analysis objects are taken apart to see how the parts interact. The integrity of an object is violated in an effort to understand how it "works". Reflexive analysis runs into problems similar to those of reflexive objectivity: The analyst cannot analyze the analyst in the process of analysis of the analyst, etc. The analyst cannot dissect the body of the analyst without bringing the analysis process to an end. THe tools of scientific analysis do not serve the purpose of integrative personhood in most situations. The nature of the tools make them inappropriate to many personal situations.
