Through objectification we reduce the reality, process, or relationship to objective considerations. Objects and parts of objects become central in our focus. Our reasoning becomes objective--- focused upon objects. Our reasoning becomes analytic--- focused upon taking objects apart and perceiving their inter-relationships. We learn to ignore those dimensions which disappear when projected onto the objective plane of life. Objectification is the process of the formation of the collusion that there are no dimensions of life other than those which meaningfully project into the objective plane of life. Life becomes reduced to those aspects of it which are adequately represented by projections onto the objective plane. Those aspects which are orthogonal to the objective plane are ignored. Objectification does violence to personal relationships and persons who are realized through personal relationships. Objectification does violence to personal integrity---for the essential aspects of persons and their intimate relationships involve dimensions which are orthogonal to the objective plane of life. To pretend that those dimensions do not exist is destructive. Objectification of the erotic dimension of human relationships leaves us with sexual relationships which are devoid of mystery, spontaneity, awe, and wonder. Objectification of sexuality deprives it of spontaneity and reduces it to the interrelationships between parts of bodies---and the objectively verifiable reactions of the bodies to physical processes. Objectification of erotic and sexual relationships obscures the essential role which non-objective realities play in personally meaningful, intimate, erotic and sexual relationships. The objectification leaves us with relationships to which we naturally object, and puzzled about how we may objectively find ways to cope with the objectionable instincts, desires, visions, and fantasies---which we have not yet learned to ignore.
