That which is holy is not subjected to analysis and objective treatment; it is not taken apart. That which is holy pertains to being whole, and to holistic perceptions. That which is holy is approached as transcendent and eliciting awe, respect, reverence, worship, veneration; not analysis, dissection, manipulation, attack, measurement, verbalization. That which is wholly is accepted as occasioning one's own wholeness. The exclusively analytic/objective person does not value integrity and so does not accept anything as holy, everything and every experience is subjected to analysis in an objective state of consciousness. No subjects are accepted as whole persons, who by virtue of being holy are not subjected to objective analysis. Holy subjects are approached subjectively in I-Thou relationships rather than objectively in I-It relationships---which subject them to fragmentation that violates their integrity, wholeness, holiness. Exclusivity of any form violates that which is holy, for the holy is essentially inclusive. People who seek to be exclusively good by excluding all that is evil, through their exclusivity violate that which is holy, for the holy is essentially inclusive---and does not categorize in terms of the categories "good" and "evil". Those categories are used by exclusive people, not by loving people seeking promote communication. Thus exclusively analytic/subjective persons perceive no person as holy, and may treat most people in ways which violate their integrity. Even subjectively oriented people may be very analytic and manipulative, seeking to control others through subjective insights and communications. Religious communities do not have exclusive control over the holy. The holy transcends the powers of religious communities; the holy cannot be used by the religious leaders to achieve their chosen goals. The holy can not be understood through analysis which presumes to take it apart into constituent parts. We may in awe point towards the holy to indicate our awareness and responsiveness. Technical responses to the holy are impotent, and often destructive. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
