Lovers do not respect heartless legalism---they transcend the futility of legalism with meaningful mutual concern. Lovers' lives are ordered in terms of personal commitments and mutual concern rather than in terms of commitments to impersonal rules, regulations, constraints, restraints, ethics, morals, etc. Lives ordered in terms of impersonal commitments are lives full of broken communications---and are lives lived in the hell of alienation and misunderstanding. People in hell do not understand each other; they can not meaningfully communicate via dialogue---even though they may exchange technical information. Those who violate legalistic injunctions may do so in a loving way, or may do so in an unloving way. Legalists will find it difficult to distinguish between the two efforts to transcend the limitations of legalism---because legalists are insensitive to the presence of power of love. They examine objective actions without perceiving the motivation and meaning of the actions. They judge objectively rather than subjectively/reflexively. Objectivity is valued more highly than is subjectivity/reflexively---so they perceive their attempt at coping to be superior to that of non-technically oriented people's way. Thus technocrats pave the road to hell by occasioning many broken communications---even as they attempt to prevent others from traveling on that road. Technocrats concern themselves with temptations to violate the collusions of their professions. Thus they sponsor rituals in which corporate activities reaffirm the unexamined assumptions of those making the professions--- be they religious, political, nationalistic, scientific, intellectual, affective, or other. The larger the number of participants in such rituals the more powerful they seem to be---in conventions, worship services, professional meetings, political rallies, etc. Such meetings help participants repress doubts and ambiguities and thereby block internal communication---thus promoting personal sin; i.e., the breakdown of personal integrity.
