     Giving a name to something which is not real does not
always make it into a reality.   Mermaids do not exist  by
virtue of having a name.   It is often hard to distinguish
between named realities of which few people are aware, and
names for entities which exist only in the imagination  of
those  who use the names.  Are ghosts,  spirits,   angels,
devils,   souls  and heaven real?   There  is  significant
disagreement on these,  and confusion as to how to resolve
the disagreements.

     Often in discussions people say things like, "Science
should do so and so,"  or,  "The Government should do such
and such."    In such situations it is often the case that
the  words which appear as do "science"  and  "government"
are  words which do not point to an identifiable  reality.
The speaker may use such words to project away from self a
sense  of responsibility,   looking for someone else to do
what needs to  be  done.     There is little clarity as to
the  who,  what,  where,  when,  how,  why,  etc.,  of the
proposed   action   by  the  "named"   reality.    Who  is
"science"?   What organization is "science"?    How can we
tell "science" what its responsibility is?   To whom shall
we  take  the message?   How can we insure that  "science"
fulfills  its responsibility?     Unless questions such as
these can  be answered in some detail,  there is no   real
significance to a statement like "Science should do so and
