There is a growing flood of information which strongly indicates that the most important science education takes place in the first three to five years of life. It would seem natural therefore to bring together the awareness of students' imminent parenthood and the need to improve science education in the light of the former. If the participants are genuinely concerned and interested in developing ways of being helpful it is likely that a new dominant focus would be educational programs designed to help parents to be helpful science educators toward their future replacements on space-ship-earth. Science educators need to consciously be aware that human reproduction is not limited to scientists. It is not likely to be limited to scientists, unless society permits them to substitute test-tube-reproduction without pre- natal affection for the present methods which have been time tested for millions of years and proven to have greater survival value than those of any other species. Assuming that the responsibility for human reproduction continues to be distributed over the human population as a whole, the most effective way for scientists to ensure the survival of their states of consciousness is for them to introduce real students to those states of consciousness so they in turn can introduce their infant replacements on space-ship-earth to those states of consciousness during their most impressionable years. This perspective of science education is in stark contrast to the traditional and relatively ineffective perspective which is openly elitist in attitude. Rationalists who wish to maintain standards of science education are not likely to look kindly on "Science for Parents" courses. By their nature the content will be "below" what is traditionally considered to merit college credit. For this reason rationalists working without dialogue will not succeed in creating new courses to meet the needs of arationalists who will in a few years be recording the child of many who might be future attractive scientists.
