There is need for values to be made real through incarnation in persons who through suffering and sacrifice make ideals into reality. In this way the absurdities of a logically consistent and systematic program for human fulfillment may be transcended. Those who are dedicated to the realization of the knowledge of good and evil---may perceive the incarnation of good and evil in self and others. Most commonly such persons perceive the incarnation of good in self and close associates, and the incarnation of evil in others with whom self and associates refuse to associate. In this state of consciousness, as lived by those dedicated to the realization of the knowledge of good and evil, the necessity of incarnation becomes perverted with great destructive power---through the estrangement. How can there be "good" people, unless there are also "evil" people? How can there be a "good" God, unless there also be an "evil" Devil? Given this state of consciousness, it is essential that techniques be developed to help people recognize who the "good" people are, and who the "evil" people are; so that self may bring together the "good" people, and estrange the "evil" people. Given this frame of reference, the "good" people may on occasion find it necessary to manipulate all people in order to advance "good" causes. Technocrats usually are willing to offer the necessary techniques of manipulation- --such as those used in Auschwitz, Dresden, Hiroshima, Lynchburg, and Watergate. Less notable examples fill the lives of ordinary citizens in any technocratic society--- until those lives are empty of hope, meanings and liveliness. People properly seek to transcend their individual finitude and so seek to become the incarnations of values which transcend self and other. Yet, when through collusion people identify ultimate value with the created things and ideals which fill their lives; then there is a shaking of the foundations which makes way for a new being in the eternal now---upon the death of the arrogant as they cease to live.
