Different people bring different: attitudes, assumptions, beliefs, fears, anxieties, etc. --- to each of their different readings of any one text. Each person's discernments are colored by whatever they bring to each reading of each text; within each different context of each such reading --- at the time and place of each such reading. For each person each text may point to a wide variety of mutually complementary truths; rather than to only one truth --- for all persons on all occasions. Each reader may have needs upon each of their readings of some one text; which are different needs than what others have when they read the same text. Discernments are reflexive realities which enfolds both the text and the readers within their particular times, places and reflexive contexts. To ignore these facts of life --- is to lay the foundations for falling into a tragic trap! Simplistic Domineering-People are prone to ignore these facts of life --- and thereby they lay foundations for falling into tragic traps --- of their own making --- which may entrap not only them --- but others who are vulnerable with them! Be Graciously-Together in the Many-Ways-of-Shalom. (c) 2006 by Paul A. Smith in "Search for Honesty and Integrity" (On Being Yourself Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
